About us

What is URJCmun TEEN?

URJCmun was born in 2013 as an initiative to promote the interest of the universitarian community in the United Nations, international relations and diplomacy. After many years of work from the organization, and magnificent student participation each year, we have established ourselves as the largest United Nations Model in Spain and Europe.

From this initiative, URJCmun TEEN was born in 2020, the United Nations model of the Rey Juan Carlos University for high school students. Its mission is to help the younger generations to have concerns that get out of the classrooms and to enrich them with an experience that will change their school stage.

What is a MUN?

MUN stands for “Model United Nations”.

A Model UN at college level is a competition where students from different degrees debate representing different United Nations countries. Each representative, also called “delegate” participates in a committee where specific topics are discussed, going from social to economic issues, with vary many others in between!

The purpose of delegates in the committee is to find consensus among the other delegations and draft a working paper that, after further debate, will end up becoming a resolution on whichever topic they were discussing.

Europe's biggest MUN

URJCmun TEEN was born in 2020. Now, it is the largest United Nations model for high school students in Spain, however, its path has not been easy.

Its first edition was held in March 2020 with only four committees and the participation of nine schools. After this first model, we found ourselves confined by the pandemic, determined to carry out the second edition in 2021, yet with a lot of uncertainty about the future. We adapted the model to the new needs and we achieved our goal: URJCmun TEEN 2021 could be held!, although with the participation of fewer schools than the previous year.

The third edition, held in 2022, was the one with which we broke all records, positioning ourselves as a national benchmark in United Nations models for the youngest.

Briseida is a fifth-year student of the double degree in International Relations and Protocol, Organization of Events and Corporate Communication. This is her fourth year in the project, for which she has incomparable affection. She has been part of the administration team and was Director General on the fourth edition, but she is especially excited to leave her final mark on the journey that began as UNICEF co-chair in its second edition, as Secretary General of the V Edition. Therefore, she promises that “the fifth” will be unforgettable.

Waranka is a fourth-year student of Protocol, Event Organization and Corporate Communication. Her adventure through the mun universe began almost four years ago and she can’t think of a better way to say goodbye than by showing once again that the trust they have placed in her all these years is deserved. In love with the project and excited about the team, she cannot wait to make the V Edition of URJCmun TEEN an unforgettable experience.

Lucía Cañada is 20 years old, she is a second year student of International Relations in English at the Rey Juan Carlos University. Originally from Zaragoza, her dream was to study in Madrid. Passionate about music, traveling and living new experiences, she is an outgoing girl willing to accept new challenges.
After 2 years participating as a delegate at URJCmun, making new friends and becoming fond of the world of simulations, she has decided to make the leap to the secretariat with great enthusiasm, to grow within a great team, and with the aim of giving the best experience to all participants.

Francisco is a 2nd degree student of International Relations in the University of Rey Juan Carlos, he comes from a village in Córdoba called Pedro Abad. His curiosity about internacional issues and knowledge of new cultures led him to take the plunge to study in the capital. Passionate about a stroll through the streets of Madrid, a chat with friends and any bad joke, he is thrilled to be the Admin Director of the fifth edition of URJCmunTEEN. In his first participation in the URJCmun he discovered that the simulation world was his field, so he decided to participate in the project from within.

He is Javier Mayoral, he is 20 years old and he is a third-year student of Protocol, Event Organization and Corporate Communication at the Rey Juan Carlos University. He is a boy who is open to discovering new projects in which to share unique moments and experiences. In URJCmun TEEN seeks to know and learn from the experiences of each of the people of the model with the aim of continuing to acquire knowledge about the organization of events and, especially, the organization of a United Nations Model.

Jorge is a 3rd grade criminology student. His interest in photojournalism and international relations made him find his place in the URJCmun press team.
After having directed the press team of URJCmun TEEN 2023, he decides to face this new challenge with enthusiasm and the desire to excel in this fifth edition.

Mauricio Herrera is a fourth year student of Audiovisual Communication at the URJC. It was not until the third year of his career that he discovered the world of MUN’s and parliamentary simulations, but since then he has participated in all the events that have been possible and so far he has more than a dozen. During his time in this world he has covered a wide variety of positions, from photographer or videographer to making of, through the direction of some of the teams in which he has been present.

After being part of the secretariat of URJCmun TEEN 2023, this year he embarks again on this project, at the same time that he will do it for the first time in URJCmun 2024, in order to give the best experience to all participants and leave a nice memory captured in videos.

Irene is a student in Business Administration and Management in the digital field. It’s her first year at URJC MUN TEEN and she is very excited to be part of this project. She knows that it is an opportunity to gain experience both personally and in curricular training.
She considers herself a responsible girl who values order and companionship and that is why she likes get involved in volunteering and student associations for educational and social purposes.

humanitarian work of United Nations committees and foreign policy, so sees herself in the future traveling the world contributing and helping as much as possible in the defense of human rights, either as part of the diplomatic corps or forming part of an international organization.

She loves sports, traveling and international politics, one of the reasons why she adores the muns. URJCmun marked a before and after for her in her university career and she wants all those who accompany her to enjoy, discover and learn as much as she has done.

Sandra, from Alicante, arrived in the Madrid metropolis wanting to find activities that would allow her to develop other aspects that were different, but complementary, to her studies. Passionate about the “whys” and debate, she found in International Relations the way by which she could satisfy the desire to understand, or at least try, how the world works. URJCmun met her expectations and participated in two models, being able to put her knowledge into practice while learning from others.

Marina Fernández is 21 years old and is a first-year student of the degree in Protocol, Organization of Events and Corporate Communication at Rey Juan Carlos university. She has always been interested into the world of events and since she discovered the university simulations, she has become more and more hooked about it. She has participated in some of them as Staff as well as in URJCmun 2023 and also URJCmun TEEN IV Edition, and now it’s time to take a step forward becoming part of the organization of URJCmun 2024 and URJCmun TEEN V Edition. She is so excited to be able to collaborate in these projects and also she expects to be able to contribute her bit in this kind of experience that will mark the lives of the young participants, she believes this is just the beginning of a long relationship with the Model United Nations.

Belén is a student of Protocol, Event Organization and Corporate Communication. She is known for never being still and for always trying to convey her best smile. She still doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future, but she is clear that it will be something where she can be surrounded by people, as it is one of her strong points. Also, she likes to be busy, and she has to constantly be doing things. She considers herself quite organized, and lives attached to a calendar so that she can always have everything in order.

In her free time, she likes to spend time with her friends and family, and she needs to end the day by watching a series. A curious fact about her is that every day she takes a “donkey nap”, sleeping for a while before eating.

She is pure nerve, and you will always see her moving, but she is a very attentive person and she will always take time to listen to you and dedicate time to others.
